Review - Fairly good, somewhat Americanized German food. The mashed potatoes and spicy schnitzel we had were lacking in authenticity, but in general pretty authentic. Very nice menu selections, including white wurst and wheat beers. Decor quite cool and appropriate. Although the service was somewhat lacking, I would personally dine here again for the food and decor.

Review - If you like some honest German food from time to time, especially in the winter as I do, this place is all you got in Hoboken. So how is it? Pretty good. I disagree with the reviewer that said it was Americanized- there were plenty of things on there no American I know would touch with a ten foot poll, like the more exotic pork products, etc. But it is a bit bland and so I would say rather than Americanized German, its just solid but not excellent German. The decor? That is tricky. Its got all the Teutonic clichs you have come to expect. But how do I put this....the place just seems stale. Dated isn't a strong enough word. The place just seems stuck in another era and that they are not even trying to keep up. Some may well find that an attribute- but I have to say I found its out-datedness to be less than appetizing.

Review - Rude service, canned vegetables, and if you dare to order their famous steak sandwich, don't be surprised by Wonder Bread swimming in a pool of melted butter with a couple of slices of London Broil on top. How do they slice London Broil less than 1 millimeter thick? It's worth a trip to view the steak sandwich. Great beer list, though.
