Review - Hello Again! If you dont know me yet, I am a Tech consultant situated temporarily on a project in JC. I took a long walk today (about 15 minutes) from my office to Hernandez Restaurant and almost walked right by. This no frills storefront type restaurant, which is down a couple steps despite it's external appearance has some excellent food, definite homage to the Puerto Rican style of cooking(think 116th St in the barrio, or almost any decent cuchifritos in the Bronx!) There are many daily specials, as well as typical Boriquen Cuchifritos type food (bacalitos, alcapuria....which btw were very good! hehehehe I had to try them, very fresh, and not dry or old)
Large size portions are the norm in this place, I did the Chuletas (pork chops) which were nicely seasoned and very meaty. My walk-mate today had the Bistec Encebollada (basically steak with onions) which was also very good, tender, and tasty. The beans were great, perfect consistency, light on the garlic. The only unfortunate thing about this place (except for their no frills appearance which may scare some away) is that they have no menu, no card, I cant give out anything at the office about this place!
The service was also excellent, as the server did not realize I speak Spanish, attempted to explain all the foods in English, which is always nice! High recommendation for a Good Tasty Solid meal!

Review - Absolutely delicious!!!! I felt like I was back in Puerto Rico eating my grandmothers home cooking. It's small but cozy. I definitely reccomend eating here.

Review - Now that this resturant is under new management it has taken on new life. The atmosphere is charming, the food is really good and the prices are right. Good job Fabian!
